Uncomplicated urinary tract infection
Simple bladder infection in women aged 16–64, no fever or flank pain. Reviewed by an Irish-registered GP for €25, usually the same day.
Important — please read before continuing. A simple urine infection is treated with a short course of antibiotics. Your symptoms should start to improve within 24 hours and settle within 3 days of starting treatment — if they do not, you must speak to a GP. Flu-like symptoms or pain in your back or side while being treated can mean the infection is spreading to your kidneys and need urgent medical attention. This service is for uncomplicated infections only and costs €25.
What we'll ask you
16 short questions, most of them yes or no. Your answers go straight to the reviewing GP.
- Describe your symptoms and when they started
- Do you have back or flank pain, or a temperature over 38°C?
- Is there visible blood in your urine?
- How many urine infections have you had in the last 6 months?
- Have you been diagnosed with cystitis (a bladder infection) in the past?
- Have you been diagnosed with any blood disorders, such as anaemia or low folic acid?
- Is there any other medical information you think your doctor should be aware of? (or type 'none')
- Have you read the important medical information about cystitis treatment shown above?
- I understand my symptoms should improve within 24 hours and settle within 3 days of starting an antibiotic, and I will contact a GP if they do not.
- I understand that flu-like symptoms or back pain while being treated need urgent medical attention.
- Do you consent to receiving a phone call from the GP about this request if needed?
- Do you consent to your pharmacist contacting you about this prescription if needed?
- Are you pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive?
- Do you have any of: high fever, severe pain, breathlessness, confusion, or symptoms getting rapidly worse?

When we'll say no
These answers stop the request and route you to a consultation instead.
- This may be a kidney infection and needs a consultation.
- Patient has not read the treatment information.
- Patient has not confirmed the expected course of treatment.
- Patient has not confirmed the urgent-symptom advice.
- Prescribing in pregnancy or while breastfeeding needs a consultation.
- These symptoms need to be assessed by a doctor directly.
