Book a GP

The most common reason patients give for booking online is not distance — it is time. A surgery appointment that takes three hours out of a working day is the barrier, not the €39. Same-day online appointments exist to remove that.

How same-day booking works

Open the booking page and look at live availability — slots are published from the GP roster, so what you see is what exists.
Choose video or phone. Phone suits open-plan offices and cars; video is better for rashes, eyes, wounds and anything the GP should look at.
Complete the pre-consultation questionnaire — five minutes, and it is what lets the GP get straight to the problem.
Pay €39 and receive a booking reference.
Join from the link at your slot time. Consults typically run 10–15 minutes.

What can realistically be finished in one appointment

Antibiotics for a confirmed infection where remote assessment is adequate — for example an uncomplicated urine infection.
A sick certificate for your employer, dated to the consultation.
A referral letter to a consultant, physiotherapist or private clinic.
Continuation of regular medication, including contraception and inhalers.
A blood test request, with the results reviewed at follow-up.

Working around a working day

Slots run into the evening, so an appointment after the school run or after work is usually available. You do not need to install anything: the consultation opens in the browser on a phone, tablet or laptop, which matters if your work laptop is locked down.

Take the call somewhere private and with a signal you trust. If the line drops, the GP will call the number on your booking.
