Employers and colleges in Ireland accept a certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner. After a short consultation an Irish-registered GP can issue a dated, signed certificate as a secure PDF, usually the same day.

- Yes. The certificate is issued and signed by a doctor on the Irish Medical Council register, with their IMC number shown, which is what Irish employers and the Department of Social Protection require.

- Can I get one without a consultation?
- No. A doctor must assess you before certifying you unfit for work — that is a professional and legal requirement.
