What we'll ask you

11 short questions, most of them yes or no. Your answers go straight to the reviewing GP.

  • Which areas are affected, and how long has it been going on?
  • How would you describe your acne?
  • Do you have deep painful nodules, cysts, or scarring?
  • What have you tried already, which products, and for how long?
  • Are you able to upload clear photographs of the affected skin if your GP asks?
  • Any irregular periods, excess facial hair or suspected PCOS?
  • Are you pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy?
  • If female and of childbearing age, what contraception are you using?
  • Do you have any of: high fever, severe pain, breathlessness, confusion, or symptoms getting rapidly worse?
  • List any drug allergies (or type 'none')
  • Medicines you currently take (or type 'none')

When we'll say no

These answers stop the request and route you to a consultation instead.

  • Nodulocystic or scarring acne needs assessment and may need dermatology referral for isotretinoin.
  • Many acne treatments are unsafe in pregnancy — needs a consultation.
  • These symptoms need to be assessed by a doctor directly.
